Highlights: Day of Encounters (2005)

At the beginning of June 2005, around 70 laureates of the Right Livelihood Award (also called the “Alternative Nobel Prize”) met in Salzburg to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the award, together with its founder Jakob von Uexküll.

On the so-called “Day of Encounters” these 70 laureates took part in dozens of events in the city and the state of Salzburg and met more than 3,500 people.

Robert Müllner (AUGE Salzburg) and I (at that time Climate Alliance Salzburg) had worked for a few months for this day, a day that was meant to bring Alternative Nobel Prize laureates together with school classes, organic farmers, Climate Alliance communities, numerous NGOs, university members, etc.
Our work was embedded in a larger planning team under the direction of Prof. Alfred Winkler (at that time responsible for special cultural projects of the State of Salzburg) as well as Susanna Vötter-Dankl and Christian Vötter from the regional Tauriska organization - a big thank you to all of them!

The variety of events on this “Day of Encounters” is shown in this presentation (pdf file, 6.9 MB!), in which all individual events are presented with pictures.

The presentation was shown the following day, Saturday June 11th, at the St. Virgil conference center, which was attended by more than 600 people.
